Perth is one
of the most isolated major cities in the world. The nearest
city with a population of more than 100,000 is Adelaide, over
2,100 km (1,305 miles) away.
Perth is geographically
closer to both East Timor (2,800 km or 1,700 miles), and Jakarta
- Indonesia (3,000 km or 1,900 miles), than to Sydney (3,300
km or 2,100 miles)!
This can make
it a great trip either on 2 or more wheels - but good preparation
your bike fully serviced and ensure that you have enough tyre
tread for at least 5,000 kilometres of travel from Adelaide,
Alice Springs, Darwin, Broome (depending on your chosen route)
plus extra if you intend to take any detours on the way to

- so plan ahead.
